The Movie:

This classic animated Disney movie flashes a colorful Chinese style and takes inspiration from an ancient Chinese poem called Ballad of Mulan (木蘭辭), which tells about a woman warrior who took her aged father’s place in the army and fought honorably for 12 years.

[Mulan] teaches kids to be fierce, to love selflessly, go after their dreams — to believe that men and women are equal, and something else: Respect.”
